What sets the studio apart is that Tanya doesn’t simply design spaces—she builds them. As both an NKBA-certified kitchen designer and a custom cabinetry maker, she bridges the gap between vision and execution, ensuring nothing is lost between concept and craftsmanship.

David Smith-Shiflett is a Master Carpenter and certified builder with more than two decades of hands-on experience in residential construction and fine millwork. A Maryland native, he began working in the trades at a young age, quickly earning a reputation for precision, reliability, and expert craftsmanship.
After years of building custom homes and cabinetry, David co-founded Unique Kitchens & Baths™ in 2017 alongside his wife, Tanya—channeling his passion for quality construction into a line of American-made, fully custom cabinetry.
As CFO and Master Millworker, David leads UKB’s production team and oversees every aspect of the manufacturing process. His deep knowledge of materials, joinery, and building methods ensures that every piece meets the brand’s exacting standards. The result is cabinetry that is not only beautiful, but structurally sound and built to last for generations..
